What happens to your numbers
How the Nxs Model works
Something reads your data every day before any human does. This is what it is, what it looks at, and where it stops.
The Nxs Model is the analysis layer behind the service. It is software. It reads what your devices record, compares it against your own history, and puts what matters in front of a coach. It is not the coaching, and it does not make decisions about you.
What goes in
Four sources, arriving on their own. Your watch sends workouts and heart rate. A Morpheus chest strap gives a morning recovery test: HRV, sleep and a recovery score. A smart scale sends weight and body composition. You log your food, with a barcode scanner in the same screen you already have open.
Nothing is exported, screenshotted or emailed to anyone. That part matters more than it sounds, because the reason most coaching runs on guesswork is that getting the data to the coach is annoying enough that nobody keeps doing it.
What it does with them
It reads every number against your own history rather than a population average. Your training load is compared to what you have actually been doing for the last several weeks, not to what a 40 year old male of your weight is supposed to do.
Your weigh-in is graded by the previous day's training load, because the same number means two different things the morning after a hard session and the morning after a rest day. Your recovery is read against what you asked your body to do. Your food is read against the kind of day it was, since a rest day and a session day should not have the same targets. Anything that has moved is flagged.
The load ratio, in plain words
The single most useful thing it watches is the relationship between what you have done recently and what you have been doing for weeks. Injuries tend to follow spikes rather than volume. A jump of the wrong size is visible in the numbers days before it is visible in how you feel, which is the entire reason for looking.
It stays switched off until there is enough of your history for it to mean something. A ratio calculated from two weeks of data is a guess with a decimal point on it, and showing you one would be worse than showing you nothing.
What it will not do
It does not decide anything about you, and it never messages you directly.
It does not use wrist-based recovery estimates. If your watch gives you a readiness or body-battery style score, we do not feed it in as a substitute for the morning chest-strap test. That is a deliberate call and it costs us convenience: we would rather have one reading we trust than four that are easy to collect.
It does not fill gaps with assumptions. If you have not logged, it says so rather than estimating what you probably ate.
Where the person comes in
A coach reads the analysis, decides what it means for you specifically, and writes back. Weekly on Performance, after every session on Elite. The model prepares and drafts, a person reads and signs, and nothing reaches you that one of them has not been through.
Liam is our coaching model, not a person. He is the voice your coaching is written in, working from what the Nxs Model prepared, and a human coach reads it before it sends. Nexus builds and runs the pipelines that bring your data in. Justin and Carla are the two people accountable for anything that reaches you, and they hold the qualifications listed on the main page.
Why it is built this way
Justin is a control systems engineer. The day job is making equipment from four manufacturers behave like one machine, and the method is always the same: measure, compare against where it should be, correct, repeat.
Most coaching is open loop. A plan gets written, you go away for a month, and somebody asks how it went. This is the closed version of that, which is not a philosophy so much as the only way anyone has ever made a process hold a target.
The short version
The Nxs Model watches. People decide. You can see both, and you can ask either one why.
